3 PURPLE PRICKLY PEAR PADS to grow your own cactus garden! Santa Rita Prickly Pear is a striking purple cactus with light lemon flowers.
“The purple prickly pear is noted for the waxy "bluish" gray stem color and the purple colorings along the edges of the stems.” Purple coloring comes and goes with the seasons and is a brighter purple when the plant is stressed by heat and drought.
This will give you your own CACTUS GARDEN to amaze your friends with these strange and unique plants. They are HARDY, they FLOWER (different flower colors for different species), you can EAT THEM (jellies, beverages...), WILDLIFE love them, they are EASY TO CARE FOR and this species turns a beautiful PURPLE when they are stressed (during hot weather, during droughts)!

**PLEASE READ:**
I have a Department of Agriculture License to sell and ship plants. Be sure when you buy plants online that you buy from someone who has invested the many hundreds of dollars it takes to get this license and the Department of Agriculture inspections that go with the license. These inspections prevent the spread of diseases and insects. Plus the license let’s you know you are NOT supporting a cactus thief that illegally took cactus from the wild. All my cactus are grown here in Tucson AZ and NOT stolen from the wild.

Very easy to care for. Just plant in dry soil (outside or in a container) in full or partial sun, and water only after the roots have come out in a few weeks. Some water once in a while is about all they require. Almost the only way to kill cactus is to never ever water it, water it all the time or freeze it completely.
If you live in a cold area of the country I would suggest planting 1 pad per pot and keeping them on the porch or inside by a window until the weather warms up again. Plant in any type of soil as long as you let the soil dry out completely before you water it again.
These species all grow at my house outside and we get a light dusting of snow. They just won't tolerate the cold until they are a bit bigger.
If you have turtles, tortoises, iguanas, bearded dragons... they will love to eat cactus pads. Especially when the pads are just starting to grow and the new pads are soft and green. You can make yourself jellies and prickly pear lemonade from the cactus fruit!
USE CAUTION WHEN HANDLING AND WEAR LEATHER GLOVES OR USE KITCHEN TONGS TO AVOID GLOCHIDS (HAIRLIKE SPINES).
SHIPS SUPER FAST! Please purchase a heat pack from me if you are shipping in extremely cold weather. You can also have your packages held for pickup at the local post office to keep them off your hot/cold doorstep.
* I ship with FAST USPS Priority Mail.
Contact me if you need a rush order. Otherwise I will ship in 3-5 days since I personally hand make each and every order.
Unless you request otherwise, I will ship all orders containing plants Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday so they don't end up sitting in a post office or postal truck over the weekend.
*** I usually ship with USPS Priority Flat Rate boxes but I can get you a quote to ship with a Regional Rate box or another shipping method depending on weight and how many pads I can fit in a box. **
